Mandrem is in Pernem taluka at the northern end of Goa. Here is every sensible way in, and what to do once you arrive.
By air

Getting around takes about a day to work out.
Rent a scooter
What almost everyone does. Rentals are easy to find and cheap by the month. Wear a helmet — the road is narrow and the sand corners are worse than they look.
Walk
Mandrem is small enough that most of the directory is a fifteen-minute walk from most of the rest of it. The beach route is faster than the road at sunset.
Cross the creek
To get from the village to the main stretch of beach you cross a tidal creek on a bamboo bridge. At high tide you may get your feet wet. This is normal and part of the deal.
One ask, and it is the only one.
People live here. Not seasonally, not as a lifestyle choice — as their actual lives, in houses their families built. Buy from the local shops, keep the noise down after eleven, and treat the village as somewhere you are a guest for as long as you are one.
